CARPET TACK INSTALLATON Super Strong Hot Glue with many uses!
I have spent the last 30 years as a carpet installer in the San Francisco Bay Area. I just recently discovered a great new installation tool for both commercial and residential carpet installations----- it is from a company called Chem-Set Fastening, and it is the HB 220 Professional Hot Glue Gun and the UX-8012 Glue Sticks. Our claim is that this hot glue sets in 1 minute, and allows you to stretch carpet in only 5 minutes after setting down tack strips. When I heard about it, I had to have it. I have had carpal tunnel surgery on both of my hands after 30 years of wear and tear in this industry. Anything that would make installing tack strip on old, hardened concrete faster and easier was worth a try. Let me tell you, this product works. Recently I had a lower stairwell landing that was impossible to get a nail into. I applied a good thick line of the Chem-Set hot glue to the tack strip, set it in place, and applied a pressure about every 8-12” or so… and that was it. I didn’t have to wait at all. It was ready in 5 minutes, instead of other adhesives that takes 2 hours or more. I also had a commercial job recently in which the tenants of the building were complaining about all the noise from hammering. Some jobs have noise restrictions during certain times, which keep you from hammering tack strip. I quit hammering and started using the Chem-Set 220 Hot Glue Gun and glue sticks. I put down several rooms’ worth of tack strip over Elasto-seal, or blown concrete on the second story of the building. After the complaining about the all of the noise coming from our installation, the customer was very grateful that our installation was so quiet once I started using the Chem-Set HB220 Hot Glue Gun and the Chem-Set UX-8012 Glue Sticks. The bottom line is… it bonds quickly and has great tack strength. …..there’s really no drying time or waiting. It’s going to save me a lot of time and money. And improve customer satisfaction. I plan to use this on tack strip over concrete, cove molding on outside corners, around concrete columns, on transition strips of all types. This is a great new product for the flooring industry.
