Spray cans formulation  even though compact, have more propellant, so the adhesive runs out quickly whereas, a canister that has a propellant the ratio is less therefore, you get more bang for the buck, making it more economical to use.  Note canisters can be refueled or refilled and the gun is and hose not only gives you more coverage but also, you never have to shut the valve until you remove the hose.  The gun is the shut off.
