Surface Bonder Horizon

A 10:1 two-part methacrylate built to handle both interior and exterior work, so you stop stocking two color sets. Flexural strength runs above 4,000 psi on natural stone, quartz, sintered stone and porcelain. Non-sag, so it holds position on miters and vertical cladding.

Integra publishes the numbers behind the outdoor claim, which is worth asking any supplier for:

• QUV accelerated weathering: color change below ΔE 1.50 on popular colors, under the ΔE 2.5 visibility threshold
• Temperature cycling from -40°F to 158°F per ASTM D1183-03
• GREENGUARD Gold certified, low-VOC formulation
• Shelf life 1 year, bond line under 0.04 in (1.0mm)

Surface Bonder Xi+

The widest color range in the line at more than 300 pre-mixed colors, and the only Integra seaming adhesive that covers solid surface along with everything else. Xi+ handles the same as legacy Xi with the same flow and sag behavior, so nothing changes at the bench. GREENGUARD Gold certified, 2 year shelf life.

Sizes cover the whole range of jobs: the 100ml fits a standard caulking gun with an adapter for field deck seams, the 250ml is the shop and field workhorse, and the 500ml covers larger jobs with quick throughput.

Surface Bonder Rapid

Cures in roughly half the time of the standard line. Fixture in 10 to 16 minutes gets an install crew in and out and keeps a high-volume shop turning parts. Non-sag formula with no styrene, flexural strength above 3,916 psi on granite, quartz and compact sintered material. Operating range runs 65°F to 85°F, tighter than the rest of the line, so watch shop temperature in winter.

Running out an old inventory? Surface Bonder Zero and Surface Bonder Ultra are both discontinued. Horizon is the direct replacement for both and uses the same color names, so the cross-reference is straightforward. Call us and we will match your color.

These are the structural products behind the seam. None of them are UV stable, so keep them out of the seam line and out of the sun.

Component Bonder reaches roughly 90 percent of ultimate strength in 10 to 15 minutes at room temperature with a 4 to 8 minute working time. It bonds hard to steel, stainless and aluminum, and to acrylic, polyester and alloy solid surface. It is not UV stable and will yellow over time, so it is not a seaming product.

Substrate Bonder SB100 replaces silicone for attaching quartz, natural stone and solid surface to a wood or composite substructure, and cuts assembly time considerably. Also not UV stabilized, so keep it out of sunlight and off anything where color stability matters.

TopSeal is an MS Polymer hybrid that works as both an assembly adhesive and a color-matched sealant. It ships in 300ml cartridges and runs from a standard caulking gun.

The cartridge only works as well as the tip on it. Integra tips use a coaxial downpipe that keeps adhesive and activator separate until the base of the mixer, then splits the activator into two streams for better mixing.

What replaced Integra Surface Bonder Zero?

Surface Bonder Horizon. Integra lists Horizon as the next generation replacement for Zero. It holds the same flexural strength above 4,000 psi across quartz, porcelain, sintered stone and natural stone, and adds UV and weather resistance so the same cartridge works indoors and outdoors. Zero customers can move to Horizon using the same color names.

What replaced Integra Surface Bonder Ultra?

Horizon replaces Ultra as well. Ultra was the outdoor product in a 215ml 2:1 cartridge with a 90 to 110 minute fixture time. Horizon fixtures in 20 to 30 minutes in a standard 250ml 10:1 cartridge, so it runs on the same dispenser and mixing tip as the rest of the line.

What is the difference between Surface Bonder Xi and Xi+?

Working time, fixture time, color count and sag behavior are the same, so nothing changes in how it runs at the bench. Xi+ adds porcelain, sintered surfaces, marble and concrete to the substrate list, and carries two hazard symbols instead of three. Both are GREENGUARD Gold certified.

Which Integra adhesive works outdoors?

Horizon is the only current Integra seaming adhesive rated for exterior use. It is tested for temperature cycling from -40°F to 158°F under ASTM D1183-03 and shows QUV color change below ΔE 1.50 on popular colors. Use it for pool edges, outdoor kitchens, exterior trim and vertical cladding. Xi+ and Rapid are interior products.

Can I use Integra seaming adhesive on porcelain and sintered stone?

Yes. Horizon, Rapid and Xi+ all cover porcelain and sintered surfaces. Horizon and Rapid both publish flexural strength on sintered material, and Xi+ added porcelain, sintered and marble with the plus formulation.

Which adhesive do I use for solid surface?

Surface Bonder Xi+. It is the Integra product that covers acrylic and polyester solid surface along with quartz, stone and ceramic, and it has the widest color range at more than 300 pre-mixed colors.

Do I need a special dispenser for Integra cartridges?

The 250ml and 500ml 10:1 cartridges need a matching 10:1 dispenser and an X-Stream mixing tip. The 100ml Xi+ cartridge is the exception: with the 100ml adapter it runs in a standard caulking gun, which is why it is the common choice for field deck seams.

Why use a cartridge adhesive instead of hand-mixed knife grade?

Consistency and speed. A cartridge meters and mixes at a fixed ratio through the static mixer, so the color comes out the same every time and the cure is uniform. No mixing board, no sticks, no pigment guessing, and far less waste since you only dispense what you use.
