Highlighting A Few of Our Favorite Weld-on/SCIGRIP Products

SCIGRIP logoWe hope you heard the good news a few months ago that Chemical Concepts is now proudly distributing the Weld-on family of cements, primers, sealants, and applicators. Whether you know them by their old name Weld-on or by what they are more commonly known as today, SCIGRIP, these adhesives are known and respected for bonding a wide variety of materials.

As your faithful Weld-on/SCIGRIP distributor, we just like to remind you every now and again that we carry these excellent products. We carry dozens of Weld-On/SCIGRIP products, but want to shine a spotlight on these three in this post.

  1. Weld-on/SCIGRIP #45 (two-part, high-strength; bonds metals, composites and plastics).
  2. Weld-on/SCIGRIP #16 (medium-bodied, fast-drying, high-strength cement for acrylics, styrene, butyrate, polycarbonate, and other plastics and porous surfaces).
  3. Weld-on/SCIGRIP #4  (thin, fast-set solvent cement for acrylics, styrene, butyrate and polycarbonate).

Weld-on/SCIGRIP #45

Weld-on/SCIGRIP #45Weld-on/SCIGRIP #45 is a two-component, low VOC, reactive structural adhesive. Fast-acting, it polymerizes at room temperature to form strong bonds in an hour or less. You’ll be impressed by the excellent weather resistance and outstanding impact strength that Weld-on/SCIGRIP #45 has at extreme temperatures.

What types of industries benefit from Weld-on/SCIGRIP #45? Actually, it is recommended for a variety of industries, including sign assembly, as well as other fabrication and manufacturing applications where high-bond strength and environmental resistance is a requirement.

What materials work the best with Weld-on/SCIGRIP #45?

This powerful, tan-colored adhesive is works extremely well for bonding

  • aluminum,
  • brass,
  • copper,
  • galvanized steel and many other metals,
  • many types of plastics such as PVC, polycarbonate, ABS, acrylic and PETG.

Here’s a quick summary of some of the assets of using Weld-on/SCIGRIP #45:

  • Exceptional for bonding most metals.
  • Offers excellent adhesion for plastics.
  • An extremely effective product choice where high bond strength and environmental resistance are required.
  • UL 746C Approved.
  • Great impact strength from -20Fto -200F (once cured).
  • Demonstrates remarkable structural bond strength on dissimilar materials.
  • Impressive corrosion resistance and gap filling capabilities.

Weld-on/SCIGRIP #16

Weld-on/SCIGRIP #16

Weld-on/SCIGRIP #16 is a fast-drying, high-strength, medium-bodied cement for acrylics. It will also bond styrene, butyrate, polycarbonate, other plastics and porous surfaces. Additionally, it  bonds rigid PVC, ABS, styrene, butyrate, polycarbonate to themselves and each other, as well as other plastics.

Weld-On/SCIGRIP #4Weld-On/SCIGRIP #4

Weld-On/SCIGRIP #4 is a water-thin, moderately fast set solvent cement for use with many thermoplastic substrates, but primarily for acrylics. It’s also an excellent choice to bond other thermoplastics such as polystyrene, CAB (cellulose acetate butyrate), PETG (polyethylene terephthalate glycol) and polycarbonate to themselves. This product is clear in appearance and non-flammable. Note: it’s not recommended for cross-linked acrylics.

Weld-On/SCIGRIP #4 creates a bond fusing the materials together with dissipation of the solvent. It only takes a few minutes to form the initial bond, and it quickly increases in strength within just a few hours.
