Highlighting Adhesion Enhancers/Surface Modifiers from LORD

As a proud distributor of LORD products, Chemical Concepts offers several adhesion enhancers/surface modifiers. These important surface treatment products can go a long way in helping to create long-lasting and fast-acting bonds to surfaces that may be notoriously difficult to work with. This blog post highlights three different selections.

LORD 7701

LORD 7701LORD® 7701 adhesion enhancer/surface modifier is a solvent-based surface treatment used for various vulcanized, thermoset, and thermoplastic polymeric materials. LORD 7701 adhesion enhancer/surface modifier chemically alters the surface of the rubber, making it more receptive to bonding.

LORD 7701 adhesion enhancer/surface modifier is used in conjunction with a broad range of LORD adhesives, including epoxy and urethane adhesives, for bonding cured rubber. It improves adhesion to a variety of cured and thermoplastic polymeric materials including:

  •   natural rubber,
  •   synthetic polyisoprene,
  •   SBR,
  •   butyl,
  •   polybutadiene,
  •   neoprene,
  •   EPDM,
  •   nitrile,
  •   polyurethane,
  •   styrene-butadiene block copolymers,
  •   styrene isoprene rubbers, and
  •   polyvinyl chloride.

The shelf life for LORD 7701 is six months from date of shipment.

Features and Benefits That You Can Expect from LORD 7701

Versatile – this product functions as a cleaner and surface conditioner; treats a wide variety of elastomer functional materials.

Easy to Apply – this product applies easily by wipe, brush, dip or flood methods.

Convenient – LORD 7701 requires no mixing.

Improved Adhesion – Count on LORD 7701 to improve adhesion to cast urethanes and cured rubber.

Fast Drying – Your crew won’t waste time waiting – adhesion enhancer/surface modifier flashes off within five minutes or less.

Environmentally Resistant – This product promotes increased environmental resistance by allowing the treated surface to be more easily wet.

LORD 459X

LORD 459XLORD® 459X adhesion enhancer/surface modifier is designed for promoting adhesion to thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), thermoplastic polyolefins (TPO) and EPDM. LORD 459X primer is in xylene solvent, diluted for direct application.

LORD 459X adhesion enhancer/surface modifier can be used in conjunction with LORD acrylic adhesives, urethane adhesives and epoxy structural adhesives, as well as with a variety of double-sided tapes.

The shelf life for this product is six months from date of shipment.

Features and Benefits That You Can Expect from LORD 459X

Versatile – This product enhances adhesion to difficult-to-bond elastomers, increasing the adhesion of coatings, double-sided tape and adhesives.

Easy to Apply – LORD 459X’s low viscosity allows for easy application; no dilution necessary.

Convenient – This product requires very low dry film weights to enhance adhesion to coatings and double-sided tapes.

LORD AP-134

LORD AP-134LORD® AP-134 adhesion enhancer/surface modifier is a one-coat, moisture-cure primer used to promote adhesion to a variety of polar substrates. These substrates include architectural and automotive glass, steel, aluminum, brass, e-coated metal, glass fabric, ceramic tile, vitrified clay pipe, concrete and some plastics.

The shelf life for this product is one year from date of shipment.

Features and Benefits That You Can Expect from LORD AP-134

Versatile – This product provides a wide range of product applications by functioning as a primer to a variety of polar substrates and as an adhesive for reaction injection molding (RIM) of polyurethane to glass.

Easy to Apply – This product applies easily by spray, dip or polyester felt applicator.

Convenient – LORD AP-134 requires only a single coat for most applications, reducing labor, solvent usage, inventory and shipping costs.
