We recently posted a blog spotlighting our revolutionary Keep-Nut Anchoring System, but we wanted to dive even deeper into the system and showcase the accessories we carry, particularly the Keep-Nut Precision Drilling Machine.

The Keep-Nut Anchoring System is a press-in insert used to create a threaded seat on panels of marble, granite, or other stone materials, as well as panels of carbon, glass, or other composite materials. However, in order for the Keep-Nut anchor to be placed, there must first be a hole in the surface. How does one cut a perfect hole in a piece of dense stone? The answer: The Keep-Nut Precision Drilling Machine!

The power of the Keep-Nut Precision Drilling Machine lies in its compact size and attached Alpha Air-680 polisher. The polisher grinds, shapes, bevels, contours, and polishes natural and engineered stone, giving a professional, finished look to the surface. It features greater efficiency and saves time, as well as features drill bits that last longer.

Our Keep-Nut Precision Drilling Machine is designed for drilling with a CNC wet core bit; bits are interchangeable based on the surface with which you’re working. A water feed system with no-load 4,000 RPM and 15-foot all-weather hose makes for a powerful machine, while the built-in oil port makes for easy lubrication of the mechanism. 4,000 RPM creates a lot of heat, which can crack the stone, so the water helps cool the drill bit and prevent those cracks.

Keep-Nut in Action

With all this talk about the revolutionary Keep-Nut technology, there must be some examples of it out in the world, right? Earlier this year, Keep-Nut was recently chosen as the anchor and cladding system for the renovations at the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, MO. The renovation includes Caesarstone Quartz Panels hanging from the walls and ceilings in the visitor’s center and museum, all being supported by Keep-Nut anchors.

While this project was too large in scale to use the Keep-Nut Precision Drilling Machine, the concept is still the same; unique CNC bits were used to drill the holes in the quartz without cracking or splintering and the Keep-Nut anchors were inserted seamlessly.
