Product Spotlight – Lord 7610DTM
Reading Time: 3 minutes
Lord’s 7610 is a direct-to-metal (DTM) seam sealer and adhesive that offers excellent adhesion to substrates such as metals (especially pre-coated metals), concrete, wood, glass, and many plastics. LORD 7610DTM is a single-component, non-sag, moisture-cure adhesive that is used primarily in the sign industry, and with much success and recognition.
We detailed its counterpart, the Lord 810/20 LRT Acrylic in a recent blog, finding that its low read through (LRT) characteristics were exceptional with OEM type projects that command an appealing presentation.
The Lord 7610DTM on the other hand is a one-part urethane typically tasked with sturdier bonds, hence its direct-to-metal capabilities. This product is available in 1/10th gallon cartridges in white, and dispensing nozzles are available as well to help you complete your sealing project.
Features
- Exhibits Excellent Primerless Adhesive Properties
- Durable – Creates strong bonds without the hassle of mechanical fastening methods.

Unmatched convenience
- Assemble and seal at the same time for maximum through-put
- Painting can be done almost immediately
- Lord 7610DTM can be used by itself or in tandem with welding for corrosion protection

Application
The process of applying Lord’s 7610 DTM is very simple, involving basically four steps for the person doing the sealing.
Surface prep – Clean and dry the surface before applying the sealer, removing any major contaminants like dirt or grease.
Applying – Apply 7610DTM to the surface and mate the parts within the work time window using a handheld cartridge. The adhesive should not dry tack-free before mating the parts.
Curing – Lord 7610DTm cures at a pace of 1/8 inch every 24 hours. This can be impacted by temperature and humidity. Once cured, the seal can be painted with most consumer and industrial-grade paints. In terms of working time, 20-30 minutes at 21 degrees Celsius is all that’s needed to achieve an initial working bond.
Cleanup – Use rubbing alcohol to clean up the area. Once cured, any remaining debris can be removed easily without the help of alcohol.
Shelf Life – Lord’s 7610DTM has a shelf life of one year when stored unopened and in a ventilated area at or below 80 degrees Fahrenheit. After opening, leave the dispense tip in place to act as a moisture seal to prolong the life of the adhesive.
