We have a category on our website devoted to the class of adhesive products that make the ‘bonding scene’ ready for a strong and true hold.  These products include activators/promoters, primers, and accelerators, which are all pretty true to their name: they promote, activate, prime, and speed up curing in the bonding area for optimal and/or quick adhesion. In today’s Blog, we’ll talk a bit about promoters and accelerators, which are commonly used to enhance the bonding process, plus we’ll review a trio of some of our best sellers here at Chemical Concepts.

Quick Tac II – Chem-Set Accelerator 

PACKAGING – Very conveniently, Quick Tac II has three packaging options, for the quick fix to the industrial style fix. They are listed below.

• 10 OZ. Aerosol
• 2 OZ. & 8 OZ. Pump Spray
• 1 Gallon Container

FUNCTION – Quick Tac II acts as a surface treatment to greatly speed up the curing process, usually with advanced performance instant adhesives.  Further, it promotes uniform curing on applications where the adhesive is not joined between two parts.

SPECIALTY – Quick Tac is good at accelerating and strengthening bonds on porous materials, like fabrics or wood. It can also be used with success in bonding acidic surfaces or surfaces with low humidity. Quick Tac can either be applied by brush or spray bottle/can and can fill gaps of up to 0.20”.

Lord AP 134 – Adhesion Enhancer & Surface Modifier

PACKAGING

• 4 OZ. bottle
• 1 Gallon can
• 1 Gallon pail
• 55 Gallon drum

FUNCTION – AP 134 from Lord is a single coat, moisture cure primer used to enhance adhesion on a number of polar substrates. Some of these substrates include steel, aluminum, automotive glass, brass, ceramic tile, and more.

SPECIALTY – Convenience and versatility set AP 134 apart. This adhesion promoter can either be applied by spray, dip, or by way of a felt applicator, and needing only one coat, this spells convenience for industry pros. Further, its versatility in bonding many varying substrates, from glass to concrete, and many surfaces in between, is another clear advantage.

Lord 459T – Adhesion Enhancer & Surface Modifier

PACKAGING

• 4 OZ. bottle
• 1 Gallon can
• 55 Gallon drum

FUNCTION – This adhesion promoter from Lord is similar to its AP 134 sibling, but is specifically designed to enhance adhesion for TPE (thermoplastic elastomers) TPO (thermoplastic polyolefins) and EPDM. 459 T can be used along with LORD acrylics, urethanes, epoxies, and even double-sided tapes to prepare, promote, and enhance surfaces for adhesion.

SPECIALTY – 459 T is versatile and convenient, but it’s also very easy to apply. Because of its low viscosity, no mixing is required, which allows for a seamless and low maintenance application process.
