Spotlighting Acrylic Substrates from SCIGRIP
SCIGRIP (formerly known as WeldOn) brings nearly seven decades of experience in delivering smart adhesive solutions for use with bonding metals, composites and plastics. SCIGRIP 16 is a very high strength, clear, medium-bodied, fast-curing, solvent-type acrylic cement. Applied to cast, molded or extruded acrylics, it will affect initial bonds very quickly so some parts may be handled within a few minutes. Bond strength continues to develop very rapidly reaching a substantial level and forming strong joints within hours. This product may be thinned with SCIGRIP 3 by approximately 10 percent. Initial bond forms very quickly so some parts may be handled within a few minutes of application. Joints are water and weather resistant and will generally have similar physical and chemical properties to acrylic plastic.
How Can SCIGRIP 16 Be Used?
SCIGRIP 16 is recommended as an excellent general purpose, high strength acrylic cement. It is especially useful where fast cure and high strength are desired for applications such as large housings, signs, plastic letters, industrial fabrications, display items, lenses and models.
What Materials Does SCIGRIP 16 Work Best With?
SCIGRIP® 16 is especially formulated to bond acrylic (poly-methyl methacrylate) plastic. It can also be used for bonding styrene, butyrate, PVC, ABS and polycarbonate, as well as other plastics and porous surfaces.
SCIGRIP 4SC Low VOC Acrylic solvent cement is formulated as a blush-resistant cement for bonding acrylic to itself.
How Can SCIGRIP 4SC Be Used?
Typically, SCIGRIP 4SC is commonly used in sign fabrication for cementing acrylic letters to flat acrylic presentation panels and trim-capping of cut-out acrylic letters. SCIGRIP by Weld-On 4SC is also widely used in many applications including the fabrication of presentation/ display cases, medical equipment assembly, as well as the bonding of plastic containers.
What Materials Does SCIGRIP 4SC Work Best With?
This water-thin, fast-set solvent cement is best for acrylics, but it will also bond styrene, butyrate and polycarbonate to themselves
SCIGRIP 40 is a two-component, clear, medium syrupy, low VOC, reactive acrylic adhesive. It polymerizes at room temperature, forming high strength joints within a few hours. The cemented joint retains high clarity, good strength and resistance to the effects of weathering and aging.
How Can SCIGRIP 40 Be Used?
SCIGRIP 40 is recommended for bonding of acrylic plastics especially where good clarity retention is a requirement. This product is versatile and can be used in a wide array of applications, including sign fabrication, the manufacturing and repair of aquariums, museum quality display cases and other plastic fabrication.
What Materials Does SCIGRIP 40 Work Best With?
SCIGRIP® 40 is especially formulated to bond extruded, cast, and cross-linked acrylic (poly-methyl methacrylate) sheets. It will also bond acrylic to polyester, cellulose acetate butyrate, polycarbonate, PVC, ABS, PETG and other materials.
