The New Standard in Countertops
CounterBalance – Joining Strength and Convenience
CounterBalance, a creation of Chemical Concepts, was formed out of the ingenuity of longtime stone fabricators unsatisfied with the inconvenience and unsightliness of corbels that support countertop overhangs. The pioneers at CounterBalance sought to offer a solution that addressed the annoyance of bumping knees on ugly corbel supports while dining and the all-too-frequent bumping of toddler heads. The result was a series of countertop support brackets, plates, and accessories that are easy to install, cost-effective, and are hidden from view.
The CounterPlate is available in two sizes: 9.75”x3.75” (CounterPlate) and 11.75”x3.75” (CounterPlate XL). They support countertop overhangs extending six inches beyond the bracket. The 9.75” regular CounterPlate supports up to a 13” overhang, while the 11.75” CounterPlate XL can support up to a 15” overhang. This particular support is ideal for a breakfast-style bar or half wall, also referred to as a pony-wall. Each support should be spaced 16” to 20” apart from each other for optimal support.
CounterBalance also offers a stainless steel CounterPlate.
The CounterBalance CornerPlate is a countertop plate custom made to support countertop overhangs in Pass-Through scenarios. Designed to attach to stud walls, this countertop bracket can support an overhang both forward and to the right or left of the half wall opening. The CornerPlate is capable of supporting up to 13” of overhang forward and up to 14” to one side. This plate, which resembles the orientation of a right angle, is perfect for breakfast bars and similar kitchen applications.
The Island Bar (24”) and Island Bar Mini (18”) are brackets specifically designed to support overhangs on islands and peninsula countertops above cabinetry. These countertop support brackets are installed to the left or right cabinet shelf frame. They can support an overhang of 10-18” in length. They are made with seven-gauge, black powder-coated steel. They are rated up to 500 lbs of support, yet are low-profile and clean, to combine style and practicality.
The Cross Bar (24”) and Cross Bar Mini (18”) are similar to the Island Bar in that they’re mounted on the corners of cabinets and function best in supporting overhangs for island and peninsula style applications. The difference is that the Cross Bar has the capacity to support overhangs in two directions. This is particularly useful because many or most islands/peninsulas do have multiple direction overhangs. The Cross Bar (24”) can support up to 18” in two directions and, like its Island Bar counterpart, can withstand 500 lbs of pressure and comes in a sleek, powder-coated black steel finish.
