Aerosol Adhesives vs. Two-Component Adhesives: Which Is Right for You?

In any construction project, one of the most important components is the adhesive or fastener used to bond all the pieces together. With so many options from which you can choose, how can you ever determine which adhesive will keep your project together for years to come?

Today, we want to help you make the right choice for your construction job. We’re going to focus on two adhesive options: aerosol adhesives, and two-component liquid adhesives. Drastically different, these two types of adhesives achieve excellent bonding with different substrates under unique circumstances.

Aerosol Adhesives

Unique in application yet versatile in nature, aerosol adhesives are a great catch-all in the adhesive industry. Our P300 series is the leader in our tensor spray adhesives. P300 – high-temperature general-purpose; P305 – pressure-sensitive non-flammable; P311 – non-flammable pressure-sensitive (medium-strength) and P321- polystyrene contact adhesive, which will not attack polystyrene when bonding to various materials.

Aerosol adhesives are known for their fast tack and versatility; they are ideal for laminates, cabinets, drywall, insulation, MRP board, boat construction, cargo trailer applications, and much more. These adhesives all achieve high green strength, are fast-drying, and have high tack, heat-resistance and bond a wide variety of materials in pressurized self-contained, portable, pressurized propellant with no ozone-depleting substances and no VOC.

Two-Component Adhesives

Two-component adhesives are more complex than aerosol adhesives, consisting of a resin and hardener, and thus are ideal for more complex projects requiring extremely strong adhesives. Our LORD 310 A/B Epoxy Adhesive is a two-component modified thixotropic adhesive that bonds everything from down-hole oil field equipment to vibration-dampening mounts.

With a higher viscosity and exceptional durability, two-component epoxy adhesives are the best option for an environmentally resistant, temperature resistant, and chemically resistant adhesive that can reach a tensile strength of 4,650 psi upon full cure. Epoxy adhesives are ideal for exterior as well as interior use.

Both aerosol adhesives and two-component adhesives are extremely high-quality adhesives that work beautifully in their own unique applications. Want to know more about the adhesives that we offer?
