We’ve covered a few of Permabond’s top-sellers, like the TA4605 and TA4610 structural adhesives and the ES558 heat cure adhesive in recent blogs, but the leaders in anaerobics, epoxies, and polyurethanes have much more to offer than a couple of popular products. To boot, Permabond’s U.S. Headquarters are in Pottstown, a short drive from us here at Chemical Concepts.

Rather than highlighting all eight categories, we’ve chosen two to point out in this blog (Anaerobics and Polyurethanes).

ANAEROBICS

Perhaps the most numerous product offering from Permabond is its lineup of anaerobic adhesives and sealants, commonly used to retain, seal and lock hardware threads of various types, and form gaskets on the spot. There are literally dozens of threadlockers, threadsealers, gasketmakers, and retaining compounds that Permabond offers, many of which we distribute at Chemical Concepts. In our last blog we detailed the new cap color code system for certain grades of Permabond’s anaerobics, making it easier for industry pros to select the adhesive with the proper strength, viscosity, and application characteristics for their job.

POLYURETHANES

Polyurethanes are another category that Permabond has a special affinity with; polyurethanes provide strong bonds to substrates like composite, metal, wood, FRP, glass, and plastic. These adhesives from Permabond offer a long working life and are typically used in the automobile industry. Permabond offers three unique polyurethanes – PT321, characterized by its strength and speed, PT326, for its moderate pot life, and PT328, known for its extended pot life.

The PT326 two part polyurethane, pictured below, is the intermediate choice of the trio, featuring moderate pot life but excellent chemical resistance and the ability to bond to a wide variety of surfaces. The PT326 can also cure easily at room temperature and resist the effects of constant impact and vibration, likely hazards of automobile applications.

In addition to the many quality products from Permabond, their “Tech Tips” are of special attention as well.
