TrimGrip

Chem-Set TrimGrip™ is a premium line of two-part, methacrylate-based structural adhesives engineered specifically for bonding and laminating cellular PVC trim boards, sheets, and components in residential and commercial construction applications. TrimGrip delivers a high-impact, flexible, and UV-stable bond that permanently welds assemblies together, thriving in harsh exterior environments where traditional mechanical fasteners, tie rods, or solvent cements fail.

Designed for high-end manufacturers, millwork shops, and field installers, the TrimGrip family provides broad substrate versatility. It bonds standard PVC, CPVC, and cellular PVC to itself, as well as to wood, fiberglass, aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and select plastics without special surface preparation. With multiple cure speeds, specialized viscosities, and a paintable white profile that matches premium trim boards, you can match the adhesive to your assembly size, temperature conditions, and shop workflow.

The TrimGrip Line:
TrimGrip (Medium Set),
TrimGrip FS (Fast Set),
TrimGrip SS (Slow Set), and
TrimGrip LV (Low Viscosity Lamination Grade)
NEW.

Naming note: FS means Fast Set, LV means Low Viscosity, and SS means Slow Set. TrimGrip without a suffix is the Medium Set grade.

Why Choose TrimGrip?

  • Permanent Unitizing Bond: Creates a structural joint with peel and shear strengths that can exceed the structural limits of the PVC itself.
  • UV-Stable and Weatherproof: Specifically compounded to survive extreme thermal cycling, moisture exposure, and outdoor UV exposure without yellowing, cracking, or turning brittle.
  • Dynamic Flexibility: The structural matrix withstands shock loading and accommodates expansion and contraction between dissimilar materials, such as PVC bonded to steel or aluminum.
  • Solvent-Free Formulations: The non-foaming consistency stays where it is placed without running, dripping, or attacking the core skin of unmilled sheets.
  • Application-Specific Flow: Choose from gap-filling grades for joints or the low-viscosity TrimGrip LV grade for thin, void-free face laminations.

TrimGrip Grade Options

TrimGrip Grade Working Time Fixture Time Primary Application
TrimGrip
(Medium Set)
5–10 minutes 15–25 minutes Flagship original formula. General shop fabrication, window surrounds, trim assemblies, and everyday bonding.
TrimGrip FS
(Fast Set)
2–4 minutes 6–10 minutes Miter joints, small trim profiles, field repairs, and rapid production steps.
TrimGrip SS
(Slow Set)
12–18 minutes 30–40 minutes Large column wraps, complex architectural builds, assemblies requiring additional alignment time, and warm working conditions.
TrimGrip LV
NEW
(Low Viscosity Lamination Grade)
6–10 minutes 30 minutes Multi-layer lamination of unmilled PVC sheets and boards. Its low viscosity supports a thin, void-free bond line with minimal clamping pressure. Ready to machine in about 1 hour.

Times are approximate at 75°F / 24°C. Lower temperatures slow cure; higher temperatures accelerate cure. Refer to the applicable Technical Data Sheet before use.
