Introducing: The Snowmobile Repair Kit
Winter is right around the corner, and those of us who live in the Northeast, or any other locale that gets regular snowfall, snowmobiling has quickly become the activity of choice for outdoorspeople. Because these machines, like cars or bikes, can get banged up or worn, repairs are sometimes necessary to keep them in working order. That’s where our new Snowmobile Repair Kit opportunistically comes into the picture. This pack, led by Lord’s 406/19 GB structural acrylic is the perfect item to have on hand to make quick, easy, and lasting repairs to your snowmobile this season.
How It Works
Lord’s 406 acrylic formula, paired with its Accelerator 19 is no stranger to high profile outdoor equipment, in fact it’s often used to make repairs on RV’s, boats, and even aircraft. In these applications, the 406 is known for replacing welding and brazing without compromising strength, plus it’s probably obvious that this easy-to-use structural adhesive is much more convenient than breaking out the blow torch every time a repair is required.
The reason that the 406 from Lord, and the rest of the kit for that matter, is so effective, especially with snowmobile repair, rests with a few fairly fundamental characteristics.
- Temperature Resistance – A high tolerance to the cold makes Lord’s 406/19GB the preferred adhesive for making snowmobile repairs. Where there is snow on the ground, there is typically cold weather.
- 2. Easy Application – Something that’s easy to use in the environment that you’re likely going to repair a snowmobile is critical. No one wants an instruction list a mile long when you’re making a fix in sub-zero temperatures.
- 3. Ideal for bonding minimally prepared surfaces – Who has the time or the resources for tedious surface preparation when you’re making a quick fix to your snowmobile? Lord’s 406 does not require careful surface prep and it does well with bonding surfaces like aluminum, which is a common body material for snowmobiles.
The 406/19 from Lord, pictured below as a part of our Snowmobile Repair Kit, has several amazing features, a few of which we touched on above. Here is an abbreviated list of some of the benefits of this strong structural acrylic.
- Versatile – A range of substrates can be effectively bonded with Lord 406, from various metals to polycarbonates.
- Resistant to Temperature – Performs at -40°F to 300°F
- Resistant to the Environment – Highly resistant to weathering and UV exposure, plus salts, oils, greases, alkalis, and others.
- Non-Sag Formula – Lord 406/19 won’t sag, which makes it much easier to apply
- Comes in off-white or black
