When it comes to flooring, we at Chemical Concepts carry a host of different products that can make your clean-up, preparation, or installation much more manageable. No matter the surface type (carpet, concrete, hardwood or laminate etc.) our lineup of products and accessories are second to none.  Obviously, the type of product you’re looking for will depend on what phase of the project you’re in. For instance, preparing your surface for adhesion would require an abrasive, removing a carpet stain would call for a solvent, and so on.

Whatever phase you’re in, you’ll find a sampling of some of our flooring project essentials below.

Dispensing Guns

Adhesive dispensing guns, like the Hybrid-120 and its kit, convert hot melt adhesive sticks into a workable bond. This particular model and kit (pictured below) works with ½“ X 10” glue sticks. The kit comes with a Hybrid-120 Glue Gun, a P-128 Ryobi compact battery and charger, and an 8 ft. AC power cord. The 18 Volt Lithium-ion battery, which comes standard, allows for one hour of continuous cordless operating time.

Hot melts

Hot melt adhesive glue sticks, like Chem-Set’s HM612 (1/2” X 10”), are the dispensing gun’s counterpart. In this case, they coincide with the CCH220 Glue Gun from Chem-Set. These clear sticks cure extremely fast and form a powerful bond with metal, concrete, carpet tack strips, plastics, foil, and more. A full cure can be achieved in five minutes and this hot melt has a cold/heat resistance of -5 degrees F and 135 degrees F respectively.

Abrasives

As detailed in a recent blog, abrasives, in many ways, do the “dirty work.” Preparing a surface for adhesion is a very real and important step in the process of installing a flooring system. The Sia SCM 6250 3” abrasives discs are a good general purpose conditioning disc used commonly in the flooring industry. Another option from Sia Abrasives is the 1820 6” X NH siamet PSA Paper Tab Discs, which are leveraged with steel and non-ferrous metal surfaces. This product is efficient in eliminating rust, removing discoloration, deburring, and smoothing the flaws of non-ferrous metal surfaces.

Sealants

Adhesives sealants, like the Sikaflex 221 One- Component, seal gaps, cracks, and crannies that may come up in the flooring process. Sikaflex 221 is a non-sag polyurethane that offers a permanent and elastic seal on substrates like wood, metal, ceramic and paint coatings.

Solvents

Also a recent topic of discussion on our blog, solvents are the cleaning agent of the project phase. Whether it’s the removal of a spot, or the surface prep task of dissolving gunk and build-up, solvents like Orange-Sol’s Heavy Duty 245 get the job done, and safely. Orange-Sol best demonstrates its solvent power via economy of motion in its use. Its efficiency in degreasing, cleaning, and dissolving, translates to less effort, faster prep time, and a pristine surface. It is a go-to choice for many in the industry because it is organic, biodegradable, and completely non-toxic.

Epoxies

Epoxies, like Devcon’s Epoxy Coat 7000 AR, are the ideal coating material for floors made of concrete or a similar material. Devcon’s product is optimal for concrete surfaces that regularly face the effects of harsh acids that can eat away and damage surfaces. Factories, garages or other tough environments are ideal for this easy-to-clean, acid resistant epoxy.
