It’s not often in the fastening and bonding world when the simple assembly instructions for a surprisingly strong natural stone and composite anchoring system is: apply pressure. Those two words are refreshing to fabricators and contractors, who are accustomed to lengthy preparation and painstaking installation and assembly. But the Keep-Nut, a special press-in, self-anchoring insert for granite, marble, and other stone materials, along with its kit that we’ll cover in today’s blog, needs only pressure for assembly.

The Keep-Nut 

Keep-Nut is a revolutionary mechanical anchoring system that attaches to panels comprised of granite, marble, composites, Corian®, glass and other similar substrates. The stainless steel nut consists of a threaded bushing with a series of flexible metal spines, with a plastic ring in the center to retain the apparatus. Although the Keep-Nut mechanism does not look like much, its strength is uncanny. Tested and proven to hold 562 lbs per anchor, you’ll likely not find a stronger fastener for this style of application.

3. The only prep work required for Keep-Nut is the drilling of a single cylindrical hole, easy enough to manage for stone fabricators and contractors.
4. Once positioned, the Keep-Nut stays put and the system won’t “leak.” Due to its elastic crowns, which act radially against the hole, bending, pressure, and general wear and tear won’t affect the integrity of the insert. (see the graphic below)
