In this blog, we’ll talk about one of our most popular and top-selling products, one from our very own, in-house brand, CounterBalance. The CounterBalance Islandbar, and its miniature, the IslandBar Mini, accomplishes the goal of improving the kitchen, offering strong, sleek countertops, without the space-consuming corbel supports.
The CounterBalance Islandbar, pictured below, does not really look like much, which is precisely why it’s the preferred choice for homeowners and fabricators alike. The last thing you want to draw attention to in your kitchen space is that which supports your shining granite countertops! That’s why this hardly invasive, nearly invisible bracket is, in fact, one of our top sellers. In contrast to bulky corbels or similar supports, the relatively small, black, powder coated bracket does all of the support work without even being noticed in most cases.
Here are a few other favorable features that have led to the Islandbar’s status as “fan favorite.”
- Support – The standard Islandbar (24”) can support up to an 18” overhang with the countertop in question extending 6” beyond the support. This provides a clean, floating look that’s also properly supported.
- Strength – The Islandbar is comprised of 7 gauge, hot rolled steel with a powder-coated finish. Tested for up to 500 lbs of force, these brackets are strong and durable as can be.
- Convenience – The Islandbar easily mounts on existing cabinetry and thorough installation instructions and tutorial videos are at your fingertips if you run into a snag.
The Islandbar Mini, seen supporting an overhang in the below picture, is even less invasive than its standard size counterpart. At 20” this miniature version of the Islandbar helps to support peninsulas or islands that don’t necessarily call for the full 18” overhang capabilities of the full size Islandbar. The Mini can effectively shoulder an overhang ranging from 8-16” and it’s made out of the same tough steel material that can support 500 lbs or more.

Included in the kit are three brackets, either 1.75” X 24” or 1.75 X 20” (mini) and all of the necessary hardware and accessories to go along with it. Rather than buying the bracket and the trappings separately, these kits allow you to make one complete purchase, and then get to work with the installation project.
