Branding the Best – Cox/Sulzer

The market of dispensing guns and their accessories is all but cornered by the experts at Cox, which has recently transitioned to Sulzer Mixpac, a fellow industry go-to for dispensing applicators. Although its products are technically named differently, their authority with applicator guns remains the same. In today’s blog, we’ll detail a few of these applicators as well as the history of Cox-Sulzer, which has long been a trusted partner of Chemical Concepts.

History at a Glance

The Cox-Sulzer brand has 50 years of experience in the area of sealant dispensing tools, with room to spare. The American-based company hangs its hat on a few principles that have served it well over the years: design innovation, a product range that is wide and successful, unmatched quality management, and excellent reliability. Although its product range was and is wide and deep, the Cox-Sulzer name bears the sure specialty of dispensing equipment.

The Product Line

The striking thing about Cox-Sulzer’s line of applicators is the sheer amount of options, with which we offer many at Chemical Concepts. You’d be hard pressed NOT to find what you’re looking for if it has anything to do with dispensing an adhesive. In the interest of time, there are three main categories of applicator gun that Cox-Sulzer, and we at Chemical Concepts are able to use to distinguish them. It’s of note too that within each category, there are dozens of sizes (usually measured in ml.) to choose from.

Single Component

COX GUNS 41004-2T SINGLE COMPONENT GUN

Single component dispensing guns, like the Cox 410024-2T (pictured below) are very simply guns that handle, and in effect apply, single-component adhesives, or those that need not be mixed at a certain ratio. These applicators are the simplest of the group and require the least amount of special provision or consideration.

Dual Component

COX GUNS PPM150 2:1 GUN

Dual Component dispensers, unlike their single component counterparts, can apply two-part adhesives, or those requiring two solutions mixed at a certain ratio, to achieve a working bond. The Cox PPM 150 (pictured below) is an example of a dual component applicator gun type; this particular applicator can mix at a 2:1 ratio, which is a common proportion in the adhesives arena.

Pneumatic Guns

COX GUNS CCA380HP HIGH PRESSURE PNEUMATIC TRIGGER GUN

Pneumatic dispensing guns are two-component systems that are powered by gas or battery, and thus are not manually applied. Cox offers many pneumatic gun types, like the CCA380HP High Pressure Gun (pictured below). This particular pneumatic trigger gun has variable ratio settings (1:1, 2:1, 4:1. & 10:1).

Like we’ve said before at Chemical Concepts, adhesives are half the battle when working to ensure a tight and lasting bond, but properly applying those adhesives is the other half. Cox’s lineup of applicators of every sort, and accessories like clamps, is a perfect first stop if you’re looking to do the job right.
