Description
AD-1147-C primer is a solvent-based ELANTAS CONAP adhesive primer for bonding liquid urethanes to prepared substrates during cure. The lower viscosity C version is supplied here in a 1 gallon can for brush, spray, roller, or doctor-blade application.
AD-1147-C primer Benefits
- Lower viscosity than the standard AD-1147 grade supports spray and coating processes.
- Amber solvent-based liquid can be applied by brush, spray, roller coating, or doctor blade.
- Designed for bonding liquid urethanes to aluminum alloys, steel, glass, wood, leather, and glass-fiber laminates.
- Two-coat guidance helps teams build the film needed for the C version.
- Heat activation supports higher bond strength after proper dry time and bake procedure.
This primer belongs in urethane molding and casting work where substrate bond strength matters. It should be treated as a process material with controlled film thickness, dry time, ventilation, and heat activation.
AD-1147-C primer Applications
- Bonding cast liquid urethane to prepared metal inserts or housings.
- Priming glass, glass-fiber laminate, wood, or leather before urethane application.
- Repair and production molds that need a lower viscosity CONAP primer.
- Spray primer procedures diluted with CONAP S-1 solvent as allowed by data sheet guidance.
- Aerospace, electronics, and industrial parts where urethane adhesion is critical.
Surface Preparation And Application
Clean all bonding surfaces before applying primer. Remove dirt, rust, chemicals, mold release, oils, and loose contamination. Sandblast, etch, or degrease as required for the substrate, then let the surface dry before coating.
Apply two coats for the C version, allowing air dry between coats and after the final coat. Activate before urethane application by baking according to the current technical data sheet. Confirm dried film thickness before releasing production work.
Technical Details And Documentation
Published CONAP data lists AD-1147-C with 160 cps viscosity, amber color, 14 percent solids, 0.86 specific gravity at 25 C, and 15 month shelf stability from date of manufacture. Review current product information from ELANTAS before setting coating, bake, or dilution instructions.
