QTM Primer 8 from CHT Group is a single-component adhesion promoter that prepares metal, glass, ceramic, and many plastic substrates for bonding with silicone elastomers. The pale yellow solution flashes off in minutes and leaves a thin chemically reactive film that links the substrate to the cured silicone, eliminating the most common cause of silicone bond failure: poor surface adhesion.

What QTM Primer 8 is built for

Use this primer ahead of one- and two-part silicone adhesives and sealants on substrates where adhesion is the weakest link. Typical applications include electronic potting, gasket bonding, glass-to-metal seals, and aerospace assembly work. The CHT Group formulation is designed for room-temperature cure of the silicone topcoat and works with most common condensation-cure and addition-cure silicone systems.

How to apply QTM Primer 8

Clean the bonding surface with a non-residue solvent and let it dry. Brush, wipe, or dip-coat a thin, uniform layer onto the substrate. Let it dry for the manufacturer’s stated open time, typically 15 to 30 minutes at ambient conditions, before applying the silicone. Avoid heavy coats. A thick film weakens the bond instead of strengthening it.

Sizing, handling, and storage

The 1-pint can is the standard production size for assembly lines and bench work. Store the container tightly closed in a cool, dry area away from moisture and direct sunlight. The working life of an opened container is limited once the contents are exposed to humidity, so plan your pours accordingly and rotate stock by date received. For high-volume production, smaller decant containers loaded as needed help preserve unused inventory and reduce solvent loss between shifts.
