Description
LORD 7545D is a black urethane adhesive curative side in the LORD 7545 family, built for two-component structural bonding of FRP, SMC, plastics, primed metals, and mixed-material assemblies. The straight side pail format supports meter-mix dispensing, production work cells, and maintenance teams that need bulk packaging instead of small cartridge sets.
Where this urethane adhesive is used
The 7545 system fits composite and plastic bonding jobs where light surface prep, non-sag placement, and durable service performance matter. It is commonly selected for truck bodies, marine panels, fiberglass parts, HVAC housings, sign structures, equipment covers, and transportation assemblies that combine molded plastics with coated or primed metal. The paste consistency helps the bead stay in place on vertical flanges, overhead joints, and broad lap areas while the parts are brought together and fixtured.
This pail is one side of a matched two-part system. Pair it with the specified LORD 7545 resin or companion side, then meter, mix, and dispense at the required 1:1 volume ratio. For best results, substrates should be clean and free of grease, dirt, release agents, and loose residue. Plastics are normally wiped clean, while metal bonding can call for primer, grit blasting, or solvent washing when higher bond performance is required. On molded parts, test the actual substrate and release-agent history before moving from lab work to a full production run.
How this urethane adhesive holds up
Once mixed, LORD 7545 cures at room temperature and reaches full strength in about 24 hours at 75 degrees F, depending on the selected curative and shop conditions. Modest heat can accelerate cure when the assembly and process allow it. The cured adhesive resists weathering, humidity, salt spray, and many cleaning or painting processes, which helps it stay useful in exposed equipment, vehicle, and outdoor fabrication work.
The non-sag body also gives fabricators more control over bondline thickness. LORD recommends a 10 to 40 mil bondline for best adhesion, although thicker sections may be used where the joint design requires gap filling. Clamp or fixture parts until the adhesive reaches handling strength, and keep organic solvents such as acetone or MEK available for cleanup before cure. Do not use alcohol for cleanup. After cure, removal usually requires heat and mechanical work, so masking, bead placement, and tool cleanup should be planned before the first production mix.
