HDPE’s (high density polyethelene – like the popular and widely used King StarBoard®) – are famous for basically being products that nothing wants to stick to. That’s a good thing when it comes to dirt and sediment. But it becomes a challenge when you’re talking about things like most adhesives (which, you know, you want to have stick.)

Chem-Set 6105 Polyolefin Bonder

Chem-Set 6105 is a 2-part, 1:1 toughened acrylic adhesive. It has been developed to bond low surface energy plastics such as polypropylene and polyethylene (e.g. King Starboard) – with no primer or surface treatment required. It can also be used to bond a wide variety of other materials such as metals and composite materials and is ideal for bonding dissimilar surfaces.

Putting Chem-Set 6105 to the Test

Have you seen the video that our sales team put together to show off the strength of this exciting new product? As the video depicts, we conducted these tests on King StarBoard®, which is a special, high-density polyethylene sheet that provides an extremely tough surface. StarBoard typically lasts a lifetime. It is environmentally stabilized to endure the harshest outdoor conditions. The material is well known in the marine world, but it’s also fast gaining popularity for use in indoor-outdoor cabinetry…especially in high-end outdoor kitchens. As these types of HDPE’s grow in popularity, our Chem-Set 6105 adhesive is also gaining interest, because it’s doing what few other adhesives on the market can claim – it’s creating strong joints in this popular all-weather material.
