Kenneth Zelle – Our Founder & President Emeritus

In 1959, in a garage in Northeast Philadelphia, Kenneth & Lois Zelle started what was to become Chemical Concepts Inc. Through hard work and sticking with the basics of taking care of their customers they have cultivated and nurtured the business for 60 years leaving the business to their children and nephews.

It is with great sadness that we must announce that Kenneth has passed away quietly in his sleep last night. The family is trying to come to grips with this tragedy and we ask that you keep Ken and our family in your thoughts and prayers.

Ken was a veteran of World War Two, serving in the US Army and landing in France on D-Day plus 6 and fighting across Europe until the conclusion of the war in Europe. A member of the greatest generation, he came home to work at various jobs until he decided that his fortunes were to be made working for himself.

While Ken did not have a formal engineering degree, he read extensively and studied hard using his acquired knowledge to invent various devices and processes that helped him grow his business from a simple garage to the company we have today.

In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia.

We appreciate your understanding as we mourn the loss of our founder, father, uncle, and leader.
