Description

Araldite 2019 is a two-component, toughened epoxy adhesive built for structural bonding where the joint has to survive vibration, impact, and temperature swings. It cures to a black bond line and reaches high lap shear strength on aluminum, steel, composites, and carbon fiber reinforced plastic. It ships as the 5 gallon pail resin component for high-volume production bonding.

Where Araldite 2019 Is Used

The adhesive fits structural assemblies in transportation, marine, rail, and industrial fabrication. It bonds CFRP panels, fiberglass, aluminum, mild and stainless steel, and many engineering plastics. The toughened chemistry resists peel and impact, which suits bonded brackets, body panels, stiffeners, and load-bearing composite joints that flex and absorb shock in service rather than crack at the bond line.

How Araldite 2019 Holds Up

Mixed at 2 to 1 by volume, it gives a working time of roughly 100 to 120 minutes at room temperature, so large assemblies can be positioned and clamped before the bond sets. Cured joints handle service from minus 60 C to plus 140 C and exceed 25 MPa lap shear on aluminum. Post-curing at higher temperature raises final strength for the most demanding structural work, and the cured epoxy resists water, many solvents, and weathering once fully set.
