Description
Chem-Set VST 7816 is a 16 mil thick, highly conformable acrylic foam tape engineered for strong bonding to low surface energy substrates. It delivers strong adhesion to difficult materials including polypropylene, polyethylene, ABS, powder-coated metals, clearcoats, and ceramic-coated automotive panels. The tape uses a double-coated pure acrylic adhesive system that delivers excellent initial tack, high shear strength, and long-term durability without requiring primers on LSE surfaces.
VST 7816 is ideal for automotive trim, plastics assembly, powder-coated components, outdoor signage, and general manufacturing applications where thin, conformable, primerless LSE bonding is required.
Available in black, grey, or white to match substrate aesthetics.

Chem-Set LSE High Bond Tape Family Cross Reference
This table helps buyers compare the Chem-Set LSE series to the 3M LSE family.
| Chem-Set Product | Thickness | LSE Class | Closest 3M LSE Equivalent |
|---|---|---|---|
| VST 7816 | 16 mils | Thin, conformable | No 3M equivalent |
| VST 7825 | 25 mils | Matches LSE-060 class | 3M LSE-060WF |
| VST 7847 | 47 mils | Matches LSE-110 class | 3M LSE-110WF |
| VST 7863 | 63 mils | Matches LSE-160 class | 3M LSE-160WF |
Why this matters:
3M does not offer a 16 mil LSE tape. VST 7816 fills this performance gap, giving manufacturers a thinner option for LSE bonding where profile height and appearance are critical.
Comparable Products
Chem-Set VST 7816 is designed for applications where buyers typically evaluate:
-
3M VHB LSE Series (LSE-060WF, LSE-110WF, LSE-160WF)
-
Automotive mounting tapes for LSE plastics
-
Primerless acrylic foam tapes for PP, PE, ABS, and powder coat
VST 7816 provides similar functional performance while offering a thin 16 mil construction not available in the 3M LSE product family.
