Description
The Chem-Set bonding stud is a glue-on fastener built for jobs where drilling through the panel or substrate is not an option. A threaded 1/4-20 bolt stud rises from a rectangular 38 x 15 mm baseplate, 1.2 mm thick, so the mounting point bonds flat to the back of a panel while the finished face stays free of holes, screws, or visible hardware.
Chem-Set Bonding Stud Applications
Cabinet and countertop shops use this fastener to hang shelving brackets, corbels, and standoffs on the back of stone, laminate, and composite panels without punching through the finished surface. Sign and display builders rely on it to mount standoffs and frame hardware to acrylic and metal panels where a drilled hole would show or weaken thin stock. Metal fabricators add a bolt point to sheet goods that cannot be drilled or tapped without distorting the panel, and marine interior builders use the same glue-on approach on composite bulkheads and trim panels where through-holes risk moisture intrusion down the road. General manufacturing and transportation upfitting shops turn to it whenever a threaded mounting point needs to land on the back of a panel that has to stay flat and unmarked on the front, and aerospace and defense fabricators use the same base-plate approach on lightweight composite structures.
Chem-Set Bonding Stud Installation
Installation is a straight glue-on process. Clean and prep the bonding surface, apply a compatible structural adhesive across the baseplate, and press the stud into position for the length of the adhesive’s working time. Once the bond cures, the 38 x 15 mm baseplate spreads clamping and torque loads across a wide contact area instead of concentrating them on a single drilled hole, which keeps the joint from working loose under vibration or repeated torque on the stud. Each bonding stud is tested for strength and durability before it ships, and the base material and plating are selectable to match the finish, corrosion resistance, and load requirements of the job. Because the fastener mounts from one side, it also works on panels that are inaccessible from the back once the assembly is closed up, which is common in cabinetry, sign boxes, and vehicle interior panels.
