Description
CHT Group Primer No. 3 UV is a blue-tinted UV silicone primer supplied in a 5 gallon pail. It is a complex solution of reactive silanes in a volatile solvent. After application the carrier solvent evaporates and leaves a thin layer that helps silicone elastomers adhere to prepared substrates, while the blue tint gives operators a visual cue for checking primer coverage.
UV Silicone Primer Benefits
- Reactive silane chemistry promotes adhesion between silicone and prepared substrates.
- Blue tint helps confirm complete, even coverage during application and inspection.
- Solvent flashes off to leave a bond-ready layer, often at relatively low temperature.
- Supports repeatable priming where coverage verification matters.
- 5 gallon pail suits production priming lines and high-volume bonding work.
Apply a thin, even film to a clean, dry surface and let the solvent flash off fully before applying the silicone. Keep the coat light, since excess primer can leave a weak layer. The carrier is a flammable solvent (UN1993), so keep the container closed, use adequate ventilation, and keep away from ignition sources. Run a small adhesion test before committing full production parts.
Common Applications for This UV Silicone Primer
- Priming substrates before silicone bonding, potting, or sealing.
- Work where visible coverage confirmation reduces missed or thin spots.
- Improving bond strength on parts exposed to moisture, vibration, or temperature swings.
- Production lines that prime parts ahead of silicone application.
Handling and Storage
- Store sealed, away from heat and ignition sources, within the labeled shelf life.
- Keep the primer dry, since moisture can shorten usable life once opened.
- Follow the safety data sheet for ventilation and personal protection.
- Test adhesion on representative parts before committing production.
