Description
cht usa primer No. 7 is a pale yellow silicone adhesion promoter for preparing non-porous substrates before RTV or addition-cure silicone elastomers are applied. This 5 gallon pail fits production lines, potting rooms, and assembly benches that use silicone sealants, gels, or encapsulants on electronics housings, rubber parts, plastics, and metal surfaces.
Where cht usa primer No. 7 is used
Primer 7 is built for addition-cure silicone systems and electronics manufacturing substrates where a silicone bond needs help wetting the surface. CHT describes the chemistry as a one-component reactive silane solution carried in heptane. After a thin coat is wiped, brushed, or sprayed onto a clean surface, the solvent flashes off and leaves a bonding layer that supports adhesion when the silicone cures over it.
Use it on parts that are dry and free of oil, grease, dust, release agent, and shop residue. The primer layer is intentionally thin. Heavy application can slow drying and leave residue, so a controlled wipe or light brush coat is usually better than flooding the part.
How cht usa primer No. 7 performs
Published data for QSil Primer No. 7 show 5.7 percent solids, 0.72 specific gravity, a tack-free time around 30 minutes at 23 C, and a 24 month shelf life when stored below 38 C. Cure of the active ingredients is supported by relative humidity above 40 percent, so plant conditions and fixture timing should be checked before a full run.
