Description
Conap AD-1146 is a one-part, solvent-borne adhesive primer for bonding liquid polyurethane systems to prepared substrates during cure. The amber 5 gallon container fits production environments that prime metal, glass, wood, leather, and glass-fiber laminates before polyurethane molding, casting, or bonding.
Conap AD-1146 Benefits
- One-part primer reduces mix steps and keeps surface prep consistent across a production line.
- Solvent-borne liquid wets prepared surfaces before the polyurethane system is applied.
- Heat-cure process can align with mold preheat or part warmup when the job allows it.
- Documented use across aluminum, magnesium, steel, iron, glass, wood, leather, and laminates supports mixed-substrate work.
- Five gallon pail size suits repeat priming work better than quart packs.
Use this primer when a polyurethane elastomer or resin must bond to an organic or inorganic surface during the curing process. It is a fit for electrical, aerospace, and industrial part programs where adhesion and environmental resistance have to be proven on the actual substrate stack.
Where Conap AD-1146 Fits
- Priming metal inserts before polyurethane molding.
- Bonding liquid urethane systems to glass and glass-fiber laminates.
- Preparing wood, leather, steel, iron, aluminum, or magnesium before urethane cure.
- Production cells using brush, spray, roller, or doctor-blade application methods.
- Repair programs that need repeatable primer film before recasting or bonding.
Surface Preparation and Use
Start with dry parts that are free of oil, oxide, dust, release agent, and loose coating. Abrade or chemically prepare the surface according to the drawing, then apply a thin, even primer film by the approved method. Avoid puddles, heavy edges, and contamination during dry time.
When bonding urethane to metal, published guidance notes that drying can be part of the preheat cycle. Confirm the time and temperature with the current technical data sheet before scaling up.
Technical Details and Documentation
Public material references describe this grade as a heat-cured, solvent-borne primer for bonding liquid polyurethanes during cure, with amber color and 1500 to 2750 cP viscosity listed for AD-1146 packs. Review current ELANTAS product-family information at ELANTAS before production use.
