Description
Conathane TU-981 is a two-component polyurethane tooling elastomer for casting, tooling, and rotocasting applications that need a tough 65 Shore D material. This 1 gallon kit includes Part A and Part B packaging for shops making durable elastomer parts, tooling details, or production aids.
Conathane TU-981 Benefits
- 65 Shore D cured hardness supports tougher tooling and casting applications.
- Two-component liquid system can be poured into detailed configurations.
- Published data lists high tensile strength, good tear strength, and good abrasion resistance.
- Room temperature or heat-cure options help fit different shop schedules.
- Rotocasting fit makes the material useful for hollow or shaped tooling work.
This kit is a better fit for planned casting work than quick repair filling. It needs accurate mixing, clean molds, and enough handling time for the material to flow before gel.
Conathane TU-981 Applications
- Rotocast polyurethane tooling parts and shaped elastomer components.
- Prototype fixtures, casting aids, and durable shop tooling.
- Mold making work needing a hard elastomer with toughness.
- Industrial parts where abrasion resistance and tear strength matter.
- Low-volume production projects using a pourable two-part polyurethane.
Surface Preparation and Use
Prepare molds and tooling surfaces before mixing. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and treated with a release system compatible with polyurethane casting. Weigh components accurately, mix thoroughly, and avoid trapping air where the finished part needs a clean surface.
Plan the pour around the listed working life and cure schedule. Test cure, release, shrinkage, and finished hardness on a representative mold before committing to production parts.
Technical Details and Documentation
ELANTAS tooling data lists TU-981 at 100/60 mix ratio by weight, 2,000 cP initial mixed viscosity at 25 C, 16 to 20 minute work life at room temperature, 65D hardness, and rotocasting applications. Review current manufacturer information from ELANTAS before use.
