Description
CounterBalance IslandBar 24 is a concealed steel support bracket for island and peninsula countertop overhangs above cabinetry. The 24-inch bar attaches to a left or right cabinet wall, placing structural support beneath the countertop while preserving open knee space. Its low-profile form replaces visible corbels in layouts where a clean, floating appearance matters.
Where the IslandBar Fits
The bracket is designed for one-sided cabinetry overhangs. Published sizing guidance supports 12 to 18 inches of overhang for 3 cm or 1 1/4-inch countertop material, and 12 to 15 inches for 2 cm or 3/4-inch material. Final spacing and overhang must also account for the countertop material, cabinet construction, edge details, seams, and any fabricator requirements. Full-overlay doors or limited cabinet framing may call for a different support style.
Installation Planning
Install the bars no more than 16 to 20 inches apart for optimum performance. Position each bracket so the support ends roughly 3 to 6 inches back from the finished counter edge. The integrated notch helps with full-length placement, while the bar may sit farther back inside the cabinet for a shorter overhang. Route or prepare the cabinet wall as directed, fasten into sound material, and confirm that the bracket sits level before the countertop is placed. Dry-fitting the complete layout helps avoid conflicts with drawers, doors, plumbing, and internal cabinet hardware.
