Food safe epoxy is not the right description for this kit. Devcon R-Flex is a two part black urethane compound formulated to repair tears, holes, and gouges in styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) heavy weight conveyor belts, and it carries no food contact certification of any kind.

Food safe epoxy clarification and belt repair use

R-Flex mixes easily and cures fast, with a 4 minute open time and a 7 to 9 minute fixture time. The repaired section can go back into service in as little as 90 minutes. Gap fill runs from 0.01 to 0.07 inch, wide enough to fill a torn splice or a gouged cover without excess buildup. The cured urethane offers strong abrasion resistance and holds up under scraper contact on pulleys larger than 10 inches in diameter, which is exactly the wear zone that damages belt covers and clips over time.

This 1.5 lb kit (stock number 15565) includes resin, curing agent, and a surface conditioner with a built in fluorescent tracer so the prepped repair area can be checked under UV light before the compound goes on. Clean and rough the damaged section, apply the conditioner, confirm coverage with the tracer, then mix and place the urethane before the open time closes.
