Description
ComboWear FC Repair Compound is a fast-curing, three-component epoxy system for rebuilding process equipment exposed to abrasion and impact. The 9 lb kit combines two ceramic bead sizes with silicon carbide, creating a non-sag material that can fill worn areas, bridge deep damage, and bond to prepared metal, ceramic, or concrete. A seven-minute working time supports planned repairs where crews need to place and shape material quickly before returning equipment to service.
Repair Applications for Worn Equipment
This compound is suited to pipe elbows, chutes, screens, ash-handling equipment, scrubbers, and other surfaces that lose material under sliding particles or repeated impact. It can also be used on cracks in large fuel lines and on damp substrates when the surface has been prepared correctly. The putty consistency stays in place on vertical and overhead areas, which helps technicians build thickness without repeated passes or sagging.
Surface preparation controls the quality of the repair. Remove oil, grease, dirt, and loose material before application. Grit blasting with coarse media creates the profile needed for mechanical grip. When blasting is not available, use a coarse grinding wheel or abrasive disc to expose clean, sound substrate. Work mixed material firmly into the prepared surface, then build the repair to the required profile and minimum thickness.
Fast Cure and Abrasion Resistance
The 2:1 mix ratio by weight and volume keeps batch preparation straightforward. At 72 degrees F, functional cure is typically 1.5 to 3 hours and full cure is about 8 hours. Cured material reaches 87 Shore D hardness, 11,000 psi compressive strength, and 7,140 psi flexural strength. The published dry service temperature is 300 degrees F, while wet service is rated to 140 degrees F. These values help maintenance teams compare the product with the operating temperature and mechanical load of the damaged equipment.
