Devcon DFense Blok Epoxy Applications

DFense Blok is designed for severe material-handling environments rather than consumer coating or food-contact projects. It can be used to repair or protect scrubbers, ash-handling systems, pipe elbows, screens, chutes, chippers, bins, hoppers, bunkers, separators, digester tables, exhausters, launderers, fan housings, crushers, breakers, and conveyor screws. These applications share a common problem: repeated contact with solids can erode a base surface and change equipment clearances, flow, or service life.

The compound provides a rebuild layer at worn areas and can also be applied as a protective lining where future wear is expected. Its value comes from matching the repair geometry to the actual wear pattern. A chute may need broad coverage along the flow path, while an elbow or fan housing may need concentrated protection at the impact zone. Inspect adjacent areas before mixing so the repair does not stop at a thin, unsupported edge.

Confirm the base material and operating conditions before use. Steel and other rigid industrial substrates need sound, well-anchored surfaces. Existing coatings, oil, embedded fines, moisture, and polished wear faces can interfere with adhesion. Remove weakened material and expose a stable profile that allows the epoxy to key into the repair area.

Application Planning

Plan the repair before combining components. Define the area, required thickness, transitions, and any forms or dams. Stage cleaning tools, mixing equipment, application tools, and protective equipment. Keep the prepared surface clean between profiling and application. Mix only the amount that can be placed within the qualified work period, and press material firmly into the profile to minimize trapped air at the substrate interface.

Shape the exposed surface for the equipment’s flow path and protect the repair from movement or contamination while it cures. After cure, inspect edges, transitions, and high-impact zones. A maintenance check after the equipment returns to service can reveal whether the original wear mechanism was fully covered or whether the next repair should extend farther upstream.
