Description
Wear Guard Ultra is a Devcon alumina ceramic bead-filled epoxy system for severe abrasion service. The 30 lb kit is built for maintenance teams repairing and protecting process equipment that sees heavy material flow, impact from fines, and repeated wear.
Wear Guard Ultra Applications
- Repairing scrubbers, ash handling systems, pipe elbows, and ceramic lined chutes.
- Recontouring chippers, bins, hoppers, bunkers, separators, and launders.
- Protecting housings, exhausters, fan areas, crushers, breakers, and screens.
- Extending service intervals on equipment where abrasion removes base metal.
- Planned shutdown repairs where a trowelable epoxy wear surface is preferred.
ITW Performance Polymers describes this grade as an alumina ceramic bead-filled epoxy with outstanding abrasion resistance for severe service conditions. Published product information also highlights non-sag placement and longer equipment operating cycles, which are useful when coating vertical or shaped areas during repair work.
Wear Guard Ultra Handling Notes
Surface preparation should be treated as part of the repair, not as a side task. Remove oil, loose rust, scale, dust, failed coating, and weak material. Roughen the surface to give the epoxy a mechanical profile, then clean again before mixing. Stage tools, forms, and access equipment before the kit is opened.
Mix the resin and hardener thoroughly until the material is uniform. Press the compound into prepared metal, then shape the surface to match flow direction and reduce ledges that catch material. Let the repair cure before restarting equipment, heating the area, or exposing it to abrasive service.
