Description

Conap S-1 solvent is a reducing solvent for thinning ELANTAS conformal coatings and the Conap primer series to the right viscosity for brush, dip, and spray application. It is a blend of alcohol and aromatic hydrocarbon solvents tuned to hold the balance between solids and flow.

Where Conap S-1 solvent is used

Electronics and potting shops use it to dilute Conap AD-1146 and AD-1147 primers and to adjust conformal coating viscosity before application. Thinning lets the coating wet out evenly across boards and components instead of pooling or bridging. The solvent has a fairly short retention time, so coatings flash and cure on schedule.

How Conap S-1 solvent works

The aromatic and alcohol blend cuts coating viscosity without changing the cured film properties of the base material. Add it in small increments and check flow on a test piece before committing a batch. Used correctly, it keeps spray patterns consistent and brush coats level across a production run. Reducing the coating also helps it reach into connectors, board edges, and the underside of tall components where a thicker mix would skip. Wipe-down and dip-tank operations both benefit from a thinner that evaporates at a predictable rate. Keep the container sealed when not in use, since the aromatic fraction flashes off if it is left open. Match the reduction to the method, lighter for spray and a heavier body for dip.
