Description
Shin-Etsu KE-348T sealant is a translucent, one-component RTV silicone adhesive for sealing electronics, forming gaskets, and bonding common industrial substrates. The neutral-cure formulation is low odor and non-corrosive, an important combination around metals and sensitive assemblies. Its thixotropic paste consistency stays where it is placed, while atmospheric moisture cures the material at room temperature into a flexible silicone elastomer.
Electronics, Gasketing, and Assembly Uses
KE-348T works well for sealing housings, supporting components, protecting connections, and creating form-in-place gaskets. It adheres without primer to many metals, plastics, glass, and ceramics when surfaces are clean and compatible. The translucent color is useful where the bead should remain less visually prominent. A non-flowing paste also gives technicians better placement control on vertical faces, around irregular components, and across narrow sealing paths.
Application and Cure Guidance
Clean the joint area and remove oil, dust, release agents, and old sealant. Apply a continuous bead with enough contact area for the joint design, then tool it before a skin forms. Moisture enters from the exposed surface, so deep or enclosed sections take longer to cure than a thin open bead. The published typical data list a five-minute tack-free time and a seven-day cure condition at 23 C and 50 percent relative humidity. Actual cure depends on bead size, temperature, humidity, and substrate conditions. Test adhesion and electrical suitability on production materials before release.
