Description
Loctite EA 9359.3 AERO is an environmentally resistant, two-part epoxy paste embedded with glass beads to maintain bondline thickness. The off-white, non-sag formula mixes at 2:1 in a 50ml dual cartridge with a 40 to 60 minute working life and cures at room temperature to a tough, high-peel bond rated for aerospace use.
EA 9359.3 AERO Benefits
- Glass beads control bondline thickness for consistent shear performance (3 to 9 mil joints)
- Outstanding resistance to water, salt spray, and a wide range of organic fluids
- High peel and shear strength on metal, composite, and engineered plastic substrates
- 4,300 psi shear and 5,900 psi tensile strength on aluminum
- 40 to 60 minute work life with 24-hour handling strength at 25°C
- 250°F (121°C) service temperature with thermal shock and vibration resistance
- Non-sag thixotropic paste for vertical and overhead joints
- Accelerated cure available: 1 hour at 180°F (82°C) for production environments
Common Applications
- Aircraft and aerospace structural composite bonding
- Salt-spray and water-exposed metal assemblies
- Glass reinforced plastic (GRP) and fiberglass repair
- Bonding aluminum, steel, stainless, and galvanized substrates
- Engineered plastics including ABS, PC, PVC, and polyamide
- Stone, ceramic, and masonry assembly in harsh environments
- Marine, transportation, and outdoor equipment repair
Surface Prep and Use
For maximum structural strength, remove paint, oxide films, oils, dust, and mold release. Solvent wipe and abrasive-blast or sand to expose fresh substrate. Per the Loctite Surface Preparation Guide, primers improve adhesion on difficult substrates.
Load the 50ml cartridge into a 2:1 dispensing gun, expel a small bead to confirm even flow from both sides, attach the static mixer, and dispense. Apply within 40 to 60 minutes. Maintain contact pressure during cure for the best bondline. Handling strength is reached in 24 hours. For maximum bond strength, allow 5 to 7 days at 25°C or accelerate with 1 hour at 180°F. Mix no more than 450 grams at one time to avoid uncontrolled exotherm. Excess uncured adhesive cleans up with ketone solvents.
