Description
Loctite EA 9394 AERO (Henkel IDH 549728) is a two-part, room-temperature curing epoxy paste with sustained strength at temperatures up to 350°F (177°C). The gray, thixotropic gel mixes at 100:17 by weight and resists sag on vertical and overhead joints. It is the aerospace-qualified version of the EA 9394 formula, supplied in a 50ml Sempak dual-cartridge that meters Part A and Part B through a standard 4:1 dispensing plunger.
EA 9394 AERO Benefits
- High-temperature service up to 350°F (177°C) without softening
- Thixotropic paste holds bead profile on vertical, overhead, and gap-fill applications
- 6,675 psi tensile strength with 88 Shore D hardness for rigid, load-bearing joints
- 90-minute working time gives technicians ample assembly window
- Aerospace-qualified to MMM-A-132 Type 1 Class 3 Group 1 (NSN 8040-01-490-5417)
- Cures fully in 3 to 5 days at 25°C or 1 hour at 150°F (66°C) for accelerated production
- Stable electrical insulator (volume resistivity 4 x 10^13 ohm-cm) for potting electronics
Common Applications
- Aircraft composite repair and structural bonding
- Liquid shim for precision assembly tolerances
- Potting and encapsulating electronic components
- Metal-to-metal and metal-to-composite structural joints
- Gap filling on machined and cast parts
- High-temperature equipment fabrication and repair
- Maintenance, repair, and overhaul work on military and commercial aircraft
Surface Prep and Use
Bonding surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of oils, paint, oxide films, and mold release. Abrade or grit-blast metal substrates to expose fresh material, then wipe with a clean solvent and let flash off before applying. Compatible primers for difficult substrates are listed in the Loctite Surface Preparation Guide.
Load the 50ml Sempak cartridge into a 4:1 dispensing plunger, expel a small bead to confirm both sides flow evenly, then attach the mixing nozzle and dispense. Apply within the 90-minute working time. Clamp or fixture until handling strength is reached at 24 hours, then leave undisturbed for the full 3 to 5 day cure at room temperature. Excess uncured adhesive cleans up with ketone solvents.
