Description
LORD 850 adhesive is a Parker LORD toughened structural acrylic supplied here as a lined gallon for bulk dispensing and production bonding. When mixed with LORD Accelerator 25GB, the system bonds prepared or unprepared metals and some engineered plastics for assemblies exposed to impact, peel, fatigue, moisture, oils, salt spray, and weathering.
LORD 850 Adhesive Benefits
- Fast 6 to 10 minute working time helps production teams place parts quickly while keeping a practical assembly window.
- 18 to 24 minute handling strength at 75 degrees F supports faster movement into fixtures, racks, or the next shop step.
- Toughened acrylic chemistry helps bonded joints tolerate impact, peel loads, and fatigue in demanding assemblies.
- Non-sag paste stays in position on vertical or overhead bond lines during placement.
- Glass beads in the 25GB accelerator help control bondline thickness during mixed adhesive application.
Use this lined gallon when cartridge packaging is too small for the job and the process already supports mixing LORD acrylic adhesive with the proper accelerator. LORD 850 adhesive fits metal bonding, composite work, transportation assemblies, equipment panels, and other structural jobs where mechanical fastening would add holes, heat, or visible hardware.
Where LORD 850 Adhesive Fits
- Bonding aluminum, cold-rolled steel, electrozinc-coated steel, and prepared metal assemblies.
- Replacing selected welds, rivets, brazed joints, or mechanical fasteners after engineering review.
- High impact or high peel applications where a toughened acrylic is specified.
- Transportation, industrial equipment, panel, and enclosure assembly work.
- Production dispensing systems set up for bulk adhesive and 25GB accelerator.
Surface Preparation and Use
Remove grease, loose contamination, and poorly adhering oxides before bonding. Parker notes that normal amounts of mill oils and drawing compounds often do not prevent adhesion, but each customer substrate should still be evaluated before production. Most plastics need cleaning, and some need abrasion for best results.
Mix the adhesive with LORD Accelerator 25GB at the required ratio and apply it with equipment suited to the lined gallon package. Mate parts within the working time and clamp until handling strength is reached. Keep containers away from heat, sparks, open flame, and direct sunlight.
Technical Details and Documentation
Published Parker data for the 850S/25GB system lists 10:1 adhesive-to-accelerator mix ratio, 100 percent solids, 6 to 10 minute working time, 18 to 24 minute handling strength, 2 hour full cure at 75 degrees F, Shore D hardness of 66, and 100 percent elongation by modified ASTM D638. Review current Parker LORD resources at Parker before production use.
