Description

IB1444XT opaque white tape puts a 2.6 mil opaque white carrier between two 1.2 mil coats of XT rubber adhesive. The white core is chosen on purpose. When a printed graphic mounts over a dark or busy substrate, an opaque carrier blocks what sits underneath so the image reads at full contrast instead of ghosting through. This is the Macbond White Out grade, and a 72# PCK release liner protects both adhesive faces until the part goes together.

Where IB1444XT opaque white tape is specified

Graphics and signage assembly is the core use. Sign shops mount printed faces, overlays and decorative panels where the carrier has to hide whatever is behind it. Magnet lamination is a steady application, bonding printed stock to flexible magnetic sheet without the backing color bleeding through. General mounting and bonding work and fabrication shops run it as well, anywhere the job calls for opacity or a white bond line rather than a clear one. At 2.6 mil the carrier is thick enough to block light and stiff enough to keep a large panel flat through lamination.

Rolls run 54 inches by 150 feet, a converting width sized for slitting and die cutting rather than hand application. Narrower slit widths can be quoted for a production run.

How IB1444XT opaque white tape performs

Static shear runs past 500 hours to failure with 100% elongation. The XT rubber adhesive builds high initial tack, so a graphic grabs on contact and stays in register while the installer works across a panel. It bonds to a wide range of substrates and performs on most low surface energy surfaces. The 72# PCK liner is dimensionally stable, which is what keeps a wide roll from wandering during slitting or lamination, and it releases cleanly from both faces. Handling and die cutting stay clean, with no adhesive picking up on the roll edge.

Work sequence matters on a large panel. Lay the exposed adhesive face down first, confirm register while the liner still protects the second face, then strip the liner and commit the mating part. Clean and dry both substrates and apply firm even pressure so the adhesive seats across the whole bond area instead of just the edges.

Specifications

Against the clear PET version of this construction the tradeoff is straightforward. A clear carrier disappears and a white carrier hides. Pick opaque when the substrate would otherwise show through the graphic, and pick clear when the bond line has to be invisible from the face.
