Description

Mactac IF4042 transfer tape is unsupported adhesive on a release liner, with no carrier film in the middle. Peel the liner and 2.0 mil of HSA440 acrylic is all that stays on the part. That construction is what keeps the bond line invisible on nameplates, cut letters and printed panels, where a visible tape edge counts as a defect. The adhesive is a pH neutral, UV cured, high shear acrylic coated at 100% solids, so no solvents and no VOCs come off the roll.

Where Mactac IF4042 transfer tape earns its place

The HSA440 adhesive was built for surfaces that defeat a general purpose tape. Powder coated and painted metal, rigid plastics, and UV cured inks all take a bond that holds. Sign shops run it for ADA signage, architectural cut letters, nameplates and membrane switch assembly. Fabricators reach for it on POP display build, interior and wall signage, and mounting to low VOC painted surfaces. Because there is no carrier, the adhesive conforms into the texture of a finish instead of bridging over it. Converters run it on a rotary die. It is self wound on a 3 inch core in a 12 inch width, and narrower slit widths can be quoted for production runs.

Static shear runs 90+ hours, with peel adhesion to stainless steel at 5.5 lb/in and tack at 6 lb/sq in. Bond strength survives 100 hours of water immersion at room temperature and 72 hours in a 5% salt water solution. It holds at 90°F and 96% relative humidity, and it takes hot and cold cycling without releasing. Applied correctly, it withstands motor oil, gasoline, weak acids and weak alkalis. The adhesive carries UL969 and CSA 22.2 No. 15 recognition as a marking and labeling systems component for indoor and outdoor use under file MH12627, and it passes FMVSS302 flammability testing. It is pH neutral and acid free to ISO18902 and passes the Photographic Activity Test to ISO18916, which matters when the tape sits behind a photograph or an archival print.
