Description
QLE 1051 is a one-component encapsulant from CHT Group built for semiconductor assemblies that need a durable, self-bonding elastomer layer. The material runs 100% solids and forms a tough protective coating once cured, with nothing to flash off during processing and no second part to weigh out. Assembly engineers reach for it when a single-step application has to hold up to the same handling and thermal stress a two-part system would otherwise be specified for.
Where This Encapsulant Is Used
Semiconductor packaging and die-attach operations use QLE 1051 to seal and protect sensitive components from handling damage, moisture, and mechanical stress during assembly and test. Because the material self-bonds to a wide range of substrates, it holds up on mixed-material assemblies where a topcoat needs to key into metal, ceramic, and polymer surfaces in the same pass. Electronics manufacturers also apply it as a protective overcoat on populated boards headed into harsh service environments, including automotive and industrial control applications where vibration and thermal cycling are routine. Test houses use the same coating ahead of burn-in and environmental screening, since the cured film resists the repeated heat cycles those tests apply without lifting at the edges.
Encapsulant Cure and Handling
QLE 1051 ships as a single, ready-to-use component and cures in two hours at 150°C. There is no second part to weigh, mix, or track for pot life, which keeps the process simple on a line running multiple part numbers through the same oven. Faster cure is available at higher oven temperatures for shops running tighter cycle times, and the one-component format removes the mixing-ratio errors that show up with two-part systems run by multiple operators. Store the material sealed and out of direct sunlight, and stir before dispensing if any settling is visible in the container. Apply with a brush, needle dispenser, or dip process depending on the geometry of the part, and keep the coating thickness consistent across a batch so cure time and adhesion stay predictable from part to part.

Because QLE 1051 arrives ready to use, shelf life management is simpler than a two-part kit: there is no hardener to track separately or risk mismatching to the base. Keep containers closed between uses and note the date first opened, since exposure to ambient moisture over time can shorten working life. QLE 1051 ships ready to dispense in standard CHT packaging sizes.
