Description

QSil 58 potting silicone is a red, high-temperature, self-leveling, two-component silicone built for potting applications where the material needs to flow into an enclosure on its own before it cures. This 2 lb kit pairs the base with a catalyst system that gives the installer control over how fast the material sets.

Controlling Cure Speed on QSil 58 Potting Silicone

Two catalyst options set the cure profile: 0.5% QSil DBT by weight for standard cure speed, or 10% QSil Deep Section Catalyst by weight for deeper sections that need a different cure path. The 0.5% DBT level can be increased or decreased in increments of 0.1% to dial in faster or slower cure without changing the base material. For an even faster cure on deep sections, the material can also be vulcanized at temperatures up to 70 C.

Where QSil 58 Potting Silicone Gets Used

LED and electronics assembly is the primary application, where the self-leveling property lets the silicone flow around components in an enclosure and fully encapsulate the assembly without trapped air pockets. Excellent thermal stability keeps the encapsulant intact where the potted electronics generate heat in normal operation. Pour slowly along one edge of the enclosure rather than directly over components, letting the self-leveling action carry the material into corners and under leads without disturbing delicate connections.
