Description
Calk for sensitive electronic and industrial assemblies needs a neutral cure profile, controlled bead shape, and adhesion to the actual housing materials. CHT AS5700 is a white, one-part alkoxy RTV silicone adhesive sealant supplied in a 310 mL cartridge. Its non-corrosive, non-slumping paste cures with atmospheric moisture at room temperature and is suited to bonding, sealing, component support, and vibration protection.
Where Calk AS5700 Is Used
AS5700 is designed for assemblies where the cured elastomer must remain flexible around parts exposed to shock, handling, or vibration. The paste can be applied around electronic components, housings, connectors, seams, and mechanical details that need a resilient seal or support bead. Its neutral alkoxy cure makes it appropriate for work near copper and copper alloys when the full assembly has been qualified.
The product adheres to many common substrates without primer and is specifically positioned for use with polycarbonate, acrylic, and other sensitive materials. Real adhesion still depends on surface finish, coatings, contamination, plastic formulation, stress, and service exposure. Test production substrates before release. Permatex thread sealant and anaerobic sealant products cure by different mechanisms. High temp RTV and high temperature RTV requirements should be checked against current technical data instead of inferred from the silicone family name.
How Calk AS5700 Handles and Cures
Clean and dry the bonding area, then remove oils, processing residue, and loose material. Cut the nozzle to the needed bead size, place the cartridge in a compatible dispenser, and apply a continuous bead. Assemble or tool the material while its surface remains wet enough to contact the substrate. The non-slumping rheology helps the bead hold its profile on vertical and overhead details.
AS5700 skins as moisture reaches the exposed surface and continues curing inward. The technical data sheet reports a 15 minute tack-free or skin-formation time and cure through a 3 mm depth in 24 hours under its stated laboratory conditions. Actual cure changes with bead thickness, humidity, temperature, joint exposure, and substrate. Do not trap a thick mass in a fully enclosed joint without testing the geometry. The same data identifies a service temperature range of -60 to 200 degrees C, which must be evaluated against the assembly’s duration, loading, and qualification method.

Before production release, apply the planned bead to representative parts and inspect wetting, slump, skin formation, and cure through the full section. Condition the assembly as required, then check adhesion and flexibility after the mechanical and thermal exposures that matter in service. Record the qualified bead geometry and dispensing settings for repeatable work.
