Description
The Sia 2925 sanding belt is a 4 x 24-inch, 40-grit coated abrasive for demanding metal preparation and stock removal. Its aluminum oxide grain is bonded to a durable X-weight cloth backing, giving fabrication and maintenance teams the edge stability and tear resistance needed for belt sanding on steel and non-ferrous metal.

The coarse 40-grit cut is suited to deburring, rust removal, weld preparation, discoloration removal, and early-stage surface blending. It can level high spots and remove scale efficiently before a finer abrasive establishes the final scratch pattern. The cloth backing supports repeated flexing around the machine rollers while keeping the belt stable at the work surface.
Sia specifies the 2925 sialoX family for both dry and wet sanding applications. The closed coating places abrasive grain across the working face, and the resin-over-resin bond helps retain that grain under normal use. Choose the operating method that matches the belt machine, workpiece, and shop process. Keep liquid away from equipment that is not designed for wet operation.
Using the Sia 2925 Sanding Belt
Confirm the machine accepts a 4 x 24-inch belt and disconnect power before installation. Mount the belt in the indicated running direction, set tracking at low speed, and verify that the belt stays centered without contacting the machine housing. Bring the workpiece to the abrasive with controlled pressure and keep it moving to avoid grooves, heat buildup, and localized wear.
Use the 40-grit belt for the first aggressive step, then move through appropriate finer grits when appearance or coating preparation matters. Clean the work area between grit changes so coarse particles do not carry into the next finish. Replace a belt that is glazed, torn, stretched, contaminated, or no longer tracking consistently.
