Description

Sika SikaBiresin AP077 is a styrene-free polyester fairing compound formulated as a smooth, sandable paste for fiberglass and gelcoat repair. This White Part A component requires the separately sold BPO cream hardener to cure, and the finished repair tolerates elevated service temperatures up to 392 F.

Polyester Fairing Compound Applications for AP077

AP077 is built for gel coat blister repair, fiberglass part repair, filling cloth imprint on FRP panels, and edge filling on honeycomb panel assemblies. Above and below waterline use is supported, which makes this compound a common choice for marine hull and deck repair as well as general FRP fabrication work. The cured filler bonds to fiberglass, SMC, FRP, epoxy, graphite and Kevlar composites, aluminum, and wood.

Mix ratio for Sika polyester filling and fairing compounds runs 100 parts resin paste to 2 parts BPO cream hardener by weight, roughly a golf-ball-size scoop of paste to a two inch ribbon of hardener. Set time at room temperature runs 5 to 10 minutes, so mix only what the crew can apply and shape before the paste begins to set.

Working with This Polyester Fairing Compound

Sand the repair to a feather edge once cured. The formula is designed for easy sanding without the gumming typical of slower-cure fillers. Low shrinkage helps the repaired area hold its profile through cure and finish sanding. Confirm substrate compatibility and surface preparation against the current Sika technical data sheet before starting a repair, since bond strength depends on clean, properly prepared surfaces.
