Description
The Specialinsert Keep-Nut EVO manual drill bit is an 11.5 mm bit for drilling Keep-Nut anchor holes in granite, marble, quartzite, engineered quartz, porcelain, and sintered stone. It mounts on the KDM115 drilling machine and is also listed for freehand use. One bit covers all six materials, so a shop does not need separate bits for natural stone and porcelain.

Performance in Production
- Keep the machine at or below 6,500 RPM, the maximum Specialinsert lists for this bit.
- The 5/8-11 UNC internal thread mounts on the KDM115, which is the machine this bit is listed for.
- One bit covers six materials. A shop that drills granite and porcelain on the same day does not need to swap bits.
- On the KDM115, the vacuum base, built-in depth stop, and central water feed handle position, depth, and cooling.
- Drill a test hole in scrap and check it with the Go/No-Go gauge before the first production hole.
- Set the hole depth for your Keep-Nut size. The depth changes with the size, so check the table below.

How KDM115 Keep-Nut Hole Drilling Works
The KDM115 turns a polisher into a drill press with a vacuum base, a depth stop, and a water feed. These are the shop steps.
- Place the material face down on a clean, flat surface with support as needed. Check the thickness, pick your Keep-Nut size, and mark the hole locations.
- Connect the machine to compressed air, water, and power. Use clean water at constant pressure, then turn on the air to set the vacuum base.
- Set the drilling depth with the adjustment dial, using a Keep-Nut as a reference. Use the depth table below.
- Briefly open the water valve to confirm flow at the bit. Keep the speed at or below 6,500 RPM.
- Drill a test hole in scrap and check it with the Go/No-Go gauge for depth and diameter.
- Position the bit over the mark, pull the handle down, and drill until the depth stop is reached. Raise the handle, close the water valve, and turn off the power and vacuum.
- Check the hole with the gauge. The Go side should fit snugly and the No-Go side should not enter. If the No-Go side fits, the hole is too wide.
- Thread the Keep-Nut onto the setting tool and tap it in with a rubber mallet until it is fully seated and flush.

Frequently Asked Questions
What drill bit do I use for Keep-Nut anchors in granite, quartz, and porcelain?
Use this Specialinsert EVO manual bit on the KDM115. It is listed for granite, marble, quartzite, engineered quartz, porcelain, and sintered stone, so one bit covers all six.
Does the EVO manual bit fit the KDM115?
Yes. The 5/8-11 UNC internal thread is the thread listed for the KDM115, and Specialinsert also lists the bit for the KDM110.
What RPM can I run the EVO manual bit at?
Specialinsert lists 6,500 RPM as the maximum for this bit.
Is this the same as the EVO M14F bit?
No. The FKN12X60EVO M14F is a different part. It is 95 mm long with an M14 internal thread and is listed for the A105/KN/GA091 stand. This bit is 74 mm with a 5/8-11 UNC thread for the KDM115. Call us if you need the M14F.
How is the EVO manual bit different from the Chem-Set 11.4 mm manual bits?
The EVO bit is 11.5 mm and is listed for all six materials. The Chem-Set bits are 11.4 mm and split by material. The natural stone and quartz bit and the porcelain and sintered stone bit are separate part numbers.
How deep do I drill for a Keep-Nut?
It depends on the Keep-Nut size. The hole depth table above lists each one, and the KDM115 depth dial sets it.
Can I drill freehand with the EVO manual bit?
Freehand is listed for this bit, but our Keep-Nut training manual does not recommend it for any Keep-Nut bit. If you do, check every hole with the Go/No-Go gauge. Call us for depth control options.
