Description
The plastic model cement from Zap is a quick-setting, carded adhesive made for polystyrene scale models and kits. It dries clear and water resistant, so seams stay clean and hold up to handling long after assembly. The 1oz tube is sized for the bench, with enough working time to align parts before the bond locks in.
How this plastic model cement works
Polystyrene cement softens the mating surfaces and fuses them as it sets, creating a weld-like joint rather than a surface-only bond. That gives model builders strong, low-visibility seams on styrene kits, display models, and detail parts. Quick setting keeps a build moving without long clamp times, while the water-resistant cure protects finished joints from humidity and washing.

Choosing the right plastic model cement
Use it on styrene assemblies where a clean, fused seam matters more than instant grab. For instant and other specialty chemistries, browse our solvent-based adhesives category. More on the Zap range is available from Pacer Technology, the maker of Zap Adhesives.
Tips for clean styrene seams
Dry-fit the parts first and scrape or sand any mold lines so the mating faces sit flush. Apply a thin bead along one edge, press the halves together, and hold for a few seconds while the joint fuses. Avoid flooding the surface, since excess cement can mar visible detail and lengthen set time. Let the seam cure fully before sanding, filling, or painting. Keep the tube capped and stored at room temperature so the cement stays fluid and ready for the next build. A fine applicator or length of wire helps place cement precisely on small detail parts.
