Techcon Blue Easy Flow Syringe Barrel Piston

Description

The Techcon blue piston is the Easy Flow design used in benchtop fluid dispensing. It rides inside the syringe barrel between the fluid and the air pulse, so the dispenser pushes on the piston instead of directly on the fluid surface. That single part does three jobs at once: it stops air from driving into the material, it spreads pressure evenly across the fluid, and it wipes the barrel wall clean on the way down so material ends up on the part instead of left behind as film.

Shops running electronics assembly, appliance gasketing, medical device bonding, and general product assembly use these pistons anywhere a barrel and tip meter fluid, from a single bench with a foot pedal to multi head automated stations. The piston also acts as a barrier that keeps moisture sensitive and UV sensitive materials protected from the air column above them, which extends working life inside the barrel over a shift. Cleanup gets simpler too, because the barrel empties more completely and the piston carries residue with it when discarded.

How the Piston Works Inside a Syringe Barrel

In time and pressure dispensing, a controller sends a timed air pulse into the back of the barrel. Without a piston, that pulse can channel into low viscosity fluids and cause spatter, or leave high viscosity material smeared up the walls. The blue Easy Flow piston takes the pulse on its back face and turns it into smooth, even movement. Techcon molds it in polyethylene, silicone and chloride free, and rates the design to 100 psi (6.9 bar) working pressure, which covers standard benchtop dispensing of adhesives, greases, solder paste, UV cure resins, and sealants.

Blue Easy Flow or White Wiper

Techcon makes two piston styles. The blue Easy Flow version fits with slight clearance, needs less air pressure to move, and is the standard choice for general work because it resists hydroplaning on medium and high viscosity fluids. The white wiper style fits tighter, giving a more complete seal for thin, watery fluids and for manual barrel guns where the piston is driven mechanically. If your material stalls or drools behind a wiper piston, the Easy Flow fit is usually the fix, and the reverse holds for very thin fluids that creep past a looser piston.
